The crèche of the European Parliament in Brussels, run by the Working Time and Childcare Facilities Unit, Childcare Facilities Service, welcomes children from the age of three months until 31 August of the calendar year during which they reach the age of four.
The crèche and nursery places are reserved for the children of members, officials, accredited parliamentary assistants and other servants of the European Parliament assigned to Brussels.
The crèche is daily managed by an external company selected on the basis of strict criteria following a call for tenders procedure. A paediatrician provides medical surveillance, according to the provisions of the Belgian Office de la Naissance et de l’Enfance (ONE). Please note that the crèche paediatrician does not replace the family paediatrician.
The European Parliament promotes an inclusion policy of all children in the crèche. The Childcare Facilities Service sees to it that all necessary measures are taken for an harmonious, emotional, social and intellectual development of the children. It aims at protecting their health and guaranteeing their security and also at maintaining relationships of trust with the parents. In order to ensure linguistic consistency, French is the working language. However, the respect of language diversity being one of the Parliament’s concerns, it also promotes the recruitment of multilingual staff.
The Wayenberg crèche has a capacity of 240 places.
The crèche also has a family room for children who accompany their parent(s) on mission to Brussels.
